Lucknow, Apr 14 (UNI) A day after the Bharatiya Janata Party was all admiration for the Election Commission for peaceful conduct of Uttar Pradesh assmebly polls so far, it targeted Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav for making unsavoury remark against the EC.

''Mulayam's statement that the EC was contesting election against the SP smacked of sheer desperation,''the BJP National Vice- President and senior party leader Yashwant Sinha told reporters here.

The UP Chief Minister has become hopeless as far his party's electoral prospects in the ongoing UP polls were concerned, he said.

Adding '' the CM's comments against the EC are manifestation of his frustration.'' Mr Sinha said there was a visible wave against the ruling SP in the state and the party was sure to be voted out of power in the UP.

Turning the heat on Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party, the BJP leader said it was ironical that the former always depended on the UP.

Dalit votes but hardly was seen with them in their hour of crisis.

''Whenever there are attacks on dalits, the BSP President is never there to help them despite her party had always followed the dalit politics,'' he pointed out.

Choosing Ambedkar Jayanti as the occasion to blast the BSP and the Congress both, Mr Sinha said the NDA government at the Centre had launched the project of Balmiki-Ambedkar Housing Scheme for urban areas but the present Congress government changed the nomenclature renaming it as 'Jawahar Lal Nehru urban renewable plan.

''It is unfortunate that the BSP never raised a voice of dissent over this while the BJP was critical of this all through,'' he said.

Sounding upbeat over the BJP's fortunes in the coming polls, he said he party was poised well to regain power in the Uttar Pradesh.
