MP Govt failed to protect interests of dalits: Sajjan Singh
Shajapur, MP, Apr 14 (UNI) Congress MLA and former minister Sajjan Singh Verma has accused the Madhya Pradesh BJP Government of failing to protect the interests of dalits.
Mr Verma told UNI here that BJP leader and former Union Minister Arun Shourie offended the feelings of dalits by criticising the work of the chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee, Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, in his book.
On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan lavished praises on Dr Ambedkar. He said this exposed the dual character of the BJP.
He said during his tenure as Chief Minister, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh had implemented 'dalit' agenda for uplifting them. The agenda was criticised by the BJP.
The Congress had always taken initiative for establishing coordination among proletariat section of society. He added that Dr Ambedkar symbolised equality in society.
