Hardcore rebel arrested along Arunachal border

Guwahati, Apr 14 (UNI) A hardcore ULFA militant was arrested along the Asom-Arunachal Pradesh border today.

Army sources said patrolling troops of the 7/11 Gorkha Regiment arrested the militant, identified as 'lance corporal' of ULFA's 28th battalion Jan Hazarika alias Arup Arandhara, at Mohong Khauji village under Mahadevpur police station along the Asom-Arunachal border at around 1300 hrs.

A mobile set was also seized from him.

The Army suspected that the rebel was going to his village at Talpathar in Pengree of Tinsukia district.

Meanwhile, the Army had steeped up vigil along the border areas to prevent movement of militants.

The ULFA militants are known to visit their homes during Bihu, the spring festival of the state, which began today.
