Fire destroys Rs 11 crore transformer at Chamera project station
Moga, Apr 14 (UNI) A fire that razed for over six hours, destroyed 250 MVA power transformer of 60,000 fuel oil capacity at Chamera Project station of Grid Corporation of India here last night.
The loss in the fire was roughly estimated at about Rs 11 crore, Power Grid Corporation Deputy General Manager R L Sharma said while briefing reporters today.
Moga SSP Devinder Singh Garcha said fire tenders, rushed in from Moga, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Bhatinda, battled the blaze for more than six hours before it could be controlled.
Senior officers of the corporation were expected to reach here later today to assess the exact damage and draw the restoration and maintainance plan, Mr Sharma said.
