Cong wants crop loan waiver

Hyderabad, Apr 14 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Kisan and Khet Mazdoor Cell Chairman M Kodanda Reddy today urged Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to waive crop loans with interest in areas where crops were damaged due to thunderstorms in the state.

According to a press release here, Mr Reddy said the paddy, mango, banana and other crops were damaged in Nalgonda, Warangal, Karimnagar, Ranga Reddy and Srikakulam Districts due to unseasonal rains and gales.

Urging the state government to provide fresh loans to the affected farmers and help those rearing sheep by settling insurance claims immediately, he said around 60 per cent of mango fruit and 70 per cent of the paddy in harvesting stage was damaged in the affected districts.
