CM directs BSES not to resort to load shedding
New Delhi, Apr 14 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today directed private power distribution company BSES to refrain from any load shedding in its areas as the city is presently not facing any power shortage.
The chief minister also asked the state power department, Delhi Transco and distcoms to jointly make public daily status report relating to power supply in Delhi to enable people to know the real picture.
She told BSES, which was supplying power in major parts of the capital, to win the confidence of customers by coming out with area-wise theft details and not resorting to load shedding in less theft-prone areas.
Ms Dikshit conveyed these directions in a high-level meeting convened to discuss complaints of power cuts in different parts of the city during the last one week.
The meeting was attended among others by Delhi Power Minister Haroon Yusuf, East Delhi MP Sandeep Dikshit, MLAs from East Delhi, state Chief Secretary Ramesh Narayanswami, Principal Secretary (Power) Rakesh Mehta, BSES CEO Arun Kanchan.
Mr Kanchan assured that there would be no load shedding if power supply remained adequate. He promised that longer load shedding would become a thing of past.
He further assured that all possible steps would be taken to redress consumer grievances.
