Centre approves Rs 22 crore agriculture scheme for HP

Shimla, Apr 14 (UNI) The Centre has approved a Rs 22.22 crore agriculture scheme for the development of the sector in Himachal Pradesh during 2007-08, Agriculture Director J C Rana said today.

The scheme was approved after a meeting between the state agriculture director and agricultural additional secretary P K Basu and agriculture principal secretary P C Kapoor, he said in an official statement.

Mr Rana said out of Rs 22.22 crore sanctioned to the state, Rs 3.67 crore would be spent on crop improvement programme, Rs 3.64 crore on agriculture mechanism scheme, Rs 2.41 crore on coordinated nutrition management, Rs 1.25 crore on agriculture water management and land conservation, Rs 150 crore on national watershed nutrition development and Rs 8.88 crore on other forestry activities.

A sum of Rs 64.23 lakh would be spent on various activities aimed at the upliftment of women under this plan, he said, adding that Rs 30 lakh would be spent on giving training on organic cultivation to 2,000 farmers of the state.
