Bus plunges into ravine in Pakistan, 13 dead

Islamabad, Apr 14: A bus plunged into a ravine in northwestern Pakistan today killing 13 people and injuring nine, an official said.

The bus was travelling on the Karakoram Highway, a rough, winding road through the mountains of northern Pakistan, and the accident occurred at a sharp bend.

''Eleven passengers died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital,'' Abdul Ghafoor, a civilian official at the District Police Office in Kohistan, a remote region of North West Frontier Province.

Five of the nine injured were in a critical condition, he said.
