Body of fighter aircraft pilot recovered after ten days

Panaji, Apr 14 (UNI) Indian Navy's search and diving team today recovered the body of Lt Cdr Saurav Tiwari, pilot of the ill-fated Sea Harrier 651 fighter aircraft, which crashed on April 5.

The body was recovered from the sea at 1151 hrs off Grandi Island.The two-seater fighter plane had crashed, about 5 miles off Goa coast in the Arabian Sea while on a routine flying sortie.

The two pilots on board, Commander Vikram Menon and Commander Saurav Tiwari had ejected. While Commander Menon was rescued, Tiwari was missing. His body was recovered today after ten days of the crash.

Indian Naval ships Betwa, Nireekshak, Alleppey, Bitra, SDB 55, clearance diving unit, Goa, and National Hydro School took part in the search operation, according to PRO Commander N V Kesari.
