American Centre links USA and NE universities

Aizawl Apr 14: United States of America is eager to attract students from NE states facilitate academic relationship between in United States of America and North East universities.

Talking to mediapersons here today, Director of American Centre in Kolkata, Douglas Kelly, said that they have planned to encourage northeast student to study in America and offer facilities for research studies.

He stated that US government have taken up initiatives to set up academic linkages between recognised Indian universities and its American counterparts.

''Now we are trying to convince the universities of NE states to link up with USA institutions of higher learning and American Centre is ready to facilitate the process in the North East,'' Mr Kelly said.

The officials have interacted with the students and faculty of Mizoram University and Asom University in Silchar.

Mr Kelly said about 80,000 students from India and 75,000 from China go to US for higher studies every year.
