Mysore, Apr 14 (UNI) Karnataka government's appeal to withdraw agitation was rejected today by the Cauvery Raitha Hitha Rakshana Samithi, which is spearheading the agitation against final verdict of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal (CWDT).

Minister for Transport Chaluvarayaswamy, who was also Mandya District incharge Minister, representing the State Government met Samithi President G Made Gowda at his residence at Mandya and appealed to stop the agitation since review appeal has been filed before the Supreme Court and also before the Tribunal.

However, Mr Gowda rejected the appeal stating that the agitation have been taken up the farmers and others and there was no question of taking back and it would be continued until the farmers get the justice. He also criticised the government for taking two months to file a review petition.

Mr Gowda also said that the Samithi would meet tomorrow to discuss the future course of action and intensify the agitation in the region.

Meanwhile the agitation continued in the Cauvery basin districts.

In Mandya three villagers staged dharna at Silver Jubilee park and blocked Mysore-Bangalore Highway for some time. Indefinite dharna continued at Maddur, Mandya, Srirangapatna and Pandavapura.

In Mysore, the protest continued under the banner of Cauvery Kriya Samithi and their signature campaign to collect one lakh signatures from the public also continued.
