'End of monarchy necessary for devp in Nepal'
Kathmandu, Apr 13: The Nepal government has said true democracy could be established only after the end of monarchy in the country.
''Monarchy should end in Nepal to ensure rights of people,'' media reports quoted Minister for Foreign Affairs Sahana Pradhan as saying.
Another movement was needed to finally put an end to monarchy, she said, adding the end of monarchy was inevitable for integrated development.
Mrs Pradhan was appointed Foreign Minister two weeks ago. Nepal's new Constitution has suspended monarchy.
Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Bhojraj Pokharel has said the election of the Constituent Assembly was not possible in June.
The major political parties have agreed to hold the election of the Constituent Assembly in June to write new Constitution that will permanently decide the future of the monarchy in the Himalayan nation.
