Congress more communal than BJP: Amar Singh
Jyotiba Phule Nagar (UP), Apr 13: Upping the ante against Congress, ruling Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh today asserted that the Congress was more communal than BJP. Addressing an election meeting here, Mr Singh said communal riots took place in Mumbai and Malegaon under the Congress regime. ''Congress wins hands down against BJP in communalism,'' he started.
Criticising Congress for its role in the demolition of disputed structure in Ayodhya and the recent statement of party MP Rahul Gandhi, he said Congress could not escape from the sin of Babri Masjid's demolition.
Castigating BSP chief Mayawati, Mr Singh claimed she was asking for votes on the promise of incarcerating him along with SP supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, while his party was soliciting people's support on development issue.
The meeting was also addressed by actor turned SP MP Jaya Prada, who cautioned the electorate against communal parties and their agenda.
