ULC repeal by 2008: Mah govt

Mumbai, Apr 12 (UNI) The Maharashtra Government today told the Legislative Assembly that the Urban Land Ceiling Act (ULC) will be repealed by 2008.

Minister of state for Urban Development Rajesh Tope, while replying to the debate on budgetary demands of the Urban Development department, said that the Government was working on an alternate system to the ULC.

The State Government is committed to repealing the ULC, he added.

Mr Tope informed that a proposal to merge the three existing Municipal Corporation acts into one for the entire state is being considered.
