Summer heat continues to scorch Delhi, mercury rises to 38.6 Deg C

New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI) Searing heat continued to scorch Delhiites for the second consecutive day today, with the mercury rising further to 38.6 Degree Celsius, three degrees above normal.

Scorching hot conditions kept Delhiites ensconced in the comfort of their homes and offices as the maximum, continuing its rising trend since Wednesday, rose to 38.6 Degree Celsius, from 38.3 degrees C yesterday.

The minimum also rose to 22.3, from 21.5 degrees C yesterday.

Weathermen attribute the scorching heat in Delhi since yesterday to a abatement in intensity of Northwesterly winds, which had been providing relief to Delhiites from the scorching Summer heat during the weekend.

They have forecast hotter days for people of Delhi during the next two to three days.

''With the likely clear sky conditions and gradual rise in day temperatures, heat wave conditions are likely to develop over parts of Northwest India, including Delhi, during the next 3-4 days,''the weather office said.

The met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours. They have also forecast a rise in maximum temperature to 40 degrees C tomorrow.
