Special ACB court to frame charges against DGP Housing on April 24
Mumbai, Apr 12 (UNI) A special ACB court today said charges will be framed against former Director General of Police (Housing) Rahul Gopal on April 24 in a corruption case.
Obeying the court's directive, Mr Gopal today appeared before Additional Session Court Judge D B Poojari.
The ACB (Anti Corruption Bureau) officials handed over a copy of chargesheet to Mr Gopal in the court. Thereafter, Judge Poojari fixed April 24 for framing charges against him.
Gopal has been booked under sections 7 and 10 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, which deals with punishment to public servants caught taking a bribe. He has been accused of collecting a bribe from builders through his 'broker' and close friend Govind Chandok.
He is also an accused in this case. Police had recovered Rs one lakh from the official car of Gopal.
ACB sleuths had conducted search at the Maharashtra Police Housing Corporation office, of which Gopal was the Managing Director. During the search, the officials had recovered several incriminating documents pertaining to contracts awarded for police housing projects in the State.
