Sena-BJP call on Guv Krishna, demand Rane's arrest

Mumbai, Apr 12 (UNI) Shiv Sena-BJP legislators of both the Houses, led by Leader of the Opposition Ramdas Kadam and BJP group leader Ekanth Khadse, today called on Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna and demanded the arrest and resignation of State Revenue Minister Narayan Rane in connection with the incident at Katol on April 7 in which a first information report (FIR) was filed against Mr Rane.

Mr Kadam and Mr Khadse, in a release issued here today, said they had narrated the April 7 incident, in which a mob of Congress workers damaged the Shiv Sena office and even allegedly damaged the portrait of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, to Mr Krishna.

Demanding Mr Rane's resignation, they said he should tender his resignation immediately as the crime was registered against him under Indian Penal Code (IPC). He should be arrested, they demanded.

The Governor assured them that he would look into the matter.
