SBI Cashier dupes bank of more than 19 lakh, sent to 5 yr RI

New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI) The Special CBI Judge in Patna has sentenced a clerk-cum-cashier of the State Bank of India to five years rigourous imprisonment for duping the bank of more than Rs 19 lakh.

R R Dubey, a Clerk-cum-Cashier of the State Bank of India (Dariyapur Gola Branch) in Patna was charged with cheating and forgery for using a forged document to siphon off Rs 19.31 lakh from the bank through demand drafts, said the CBI.

Dubey was charged along with branch manager S K Pandey for preparing 25 demand drafts worth Rs 19.31 lakh and later encashing them.

Pandey However, was not sent for trial as his involvement in the conspiracy could not be substantiated.
