Mumbai, Apr 12: A local court conducting trial into the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan has adjourned the matter till April 17.

The matter was adjourned after the prosecution sought time to investigate the SMS threats received by the slain BJP leader from accused Praveen Mahajan just a few days before he was murdered.

BJP general secretary Gopinath Munde, while deposing before the court yesterday, had claimed that Pramod Mahajan had received such threatening SMS, following which the prosecution had sought time to investigate the matter.

Special public prosecutor Nitin Pradhan told the court today the documents pertaining to the three mobile phones, one of which might have been used to send the SMS, were received late at about 1800 hours yesterday from the court's custody due to which the investigating agency was not able to complete the investigations.

The three mobile phones, one of Nokia with BPL company's SIM card and two Reliance mobile phones (one with camera and another without camera), had been seized earlier by the police during investigations.

Additional sessions judge S P Davare, presiding over the murder trial, therefore adjourned Mr Munde's further examination till April 17.
