Child abuse; Case registered against nurse

Thane, Apr 12: Police here today registered an offence under the Prevention of Child Abuse Act against a nurse and her husband, for allegedly torturing a 13-year-old girl.

Police said the accused, Dhananshri Pawar, had brought a 13-year-old girl from her native place as a domestic help and made her work in her house.

The nurse allegedly used to give hard work to the teenager and frequently torture her. The torture by the nurse went to such an extent that at one point of time, to set the teenager right, she cut her hair.

The Wagle Estate police registered an offence under various acts including the Indian Penal Code(IPC), Child Abuse Act in the matter.

The teenager has been taken charge of and sent to the Bhiwandi Remand Home after the offence was registered against the couple, based on a complaint by the Labour Commissioner.
