Notorious criminal killed

Bagha, Apr 12 (UNI) Notorious gangster Patru alias Jamadar Yadav was killed in an encounter with the police at Rewhia Gandak Diara in west Champaran district today.

Police said the criminals started firing at a joint team of Special Task Force (STF) and Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) when the latter was approaching a criminal's hideout.

The security men retaliated in self-defence and the gang leader was killed in the ensuing encounter, police said adding that another five to six criminals sustained injuries .

The slain criminal hailed from Chandarpur village and was wanted in 14 criminal cases including kidnapping, murder and arson.

A country-made gun, one rifle and huge quantities of assorted ammunition were recovered from the site. Police has launched massive manhunt to nab the other gang members.
