No crisis in Moscow-Washington relations: Russia

Moscow, Apr 12: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Yakovenko today denied that relations between Moscow and Washington were going through a crisis.

''Absolutely not,'' Mr Yakovenko said at a press conference replying to a query on whether Russian-US relations were worsening.

The ''essence'' of Russian President Vladimir Putin's remarks in Munich in February and the statements made by the Russian Foreign Ministry is that ''the world is confronting certain problems and trends,'' he said.

''We simply name the problems and trends that exist. This concerns not only our relations with the United States or other countries.

There are issues that must be solved together and this is the primary goal or our policy,'' Mr Yakovenko said.

''If we do not solve them through dialogue and cooperation, the world will unfortunately develop in the wrong direction and international relations will worsen constantly,''he added.
