MLCs taken into custody in AP

Hyderabad, Apr 12: Two members of the Legislative Council were taken into custody by police when they tried to organise a dharna at Tank Bund in the city to express solidarity with striking teachers.

According to police here, the Joint Action Committee of Teachers' Organisations (JACTO) stayed away from spot valuation of the Standard X examination papers and staged dharna at Indira Park today.

When MLCs Chukka Ramaiah and K Nageswar tried to organise a dharna in support of the teachers, they were taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the stalemate over spot valuation continued for the fifth day today.
