Bhopal, Apr 12 (UNI) The Majlis-e-shoora of the All India Muslim Tyohar Committee (AIMTC) has announced to expel Mohammed Omar alias Umesh from Muslim community for getting married to a Hindu girl as per Hindu traditions after accepting Hindu religion.

AIMTC Chairman Ausaf Shahmiri Khurram told UNI that the Majlis-e-shoora of the committee met today to discuss the matter besides other things. A decision was taken to expel Mohammed Omar from the community for embracing Hindu religion.

The meeting also discussed issues related to the welfare of minorities and encroachment of land in the 'kabristan (graveyard)'.

It demanded appropriate action from the Waqf Board in this regard.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind's Madhya Pradesh Secretary Nadim Maulana Mohammed Ahmed said the issue whether Mohammed Omar was in Islam or not could be decided only after discussion with him when he returned to Bhopal.

However, he said, his religion was a private matter and such hue and cry in this regard was uncalled for.

Maulana Mohammed described the behaviour of certain organisations in this regard as objectionable and said no community should be targeted because of this episode.

Under these circumstances, the government and the district administration must keep an eye over such elements who want to achieve their objectives by giving different colour to the case.

He said it was better that law took its own course in this regard instead of some organisations trying to become savior of law.

Bhopal-based Priyanka Vadhwani allegedly eloped with Mohammed Omar and both got married on April 5 in Mumbai. Earlier, the boy embraced Hindusim and changed his name to Umesh.

The Sindhi community has voiced its objection and certain organisations have staged demonstrations against the marriage.

Meanwhile, even before the controversy subsided, a similar case had been reported in the state capital with a girl belonging to Sindhi community eloping with a Muslim boy, who has also reportedly embraced Hinduism.

Police were exercising caution in view of these incidents.
