New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI) India will organise a three-month-long cultural festival in Brazil from July next year.

A decision to this effect was taken at the first meeting of the Indo-Brazil joint working group here today.

The meeting decided to hold the Cultural Festival of Brazil in India during the months of January-March next year.

Both sides agreed to hold Visual Art Exhibitions, display of performing arts, academic exchanges and seminars and Food Festivals during the Cultural Festivals.

Sangeet Natak Academy, Lalit Kala Academy, Sahitya Academy, the National School of Drama, National Museum, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and ITDC will actively participate in the Cultural Festivals, official sources said here.

It was proposed to hold the next meeting of the JWG in Brazil in August-September, 2007 whereby the Indian side could also see the venues at Brazil.

The probable cities where the Indian cultural festival could be held in Brazil are Sao Paulo, Brasilia, Rio and Salvador.

The Brazilian festival in India is proposed to be held in New Delhi and some of the events could possibly be taken to some other cities like Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
