Four associates of UP based Salim Qureshi gang arrested

Mumbai, Apr 12 (UNI) Four associates of noted gangster Salim Qureshi of Uttar Pradesh (UP), were nabbed by the crime branch unit XI here yesterday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) R D Shinde said, acting on a tip off that four robbers would rob Kothari Jeweller's shop situated at Kandhivali (E), they laid a trap last night at the spot. As soon as the accused arrived, police identified and nabbed them.

There were identified as Dilip Kantakumar Singh (32), Firoz Ahmed alias Pappu Salafatali (28), Phiroz Ahmed alias Raju Ibrahim (30) and Shapakali Lalmohammed Dhobi (30).

Police have seized two country made pistol, two choppers and four live cartridges from their possession.

Mr Shinde said, during the interrogation, it was revealed that they were associated with Uttar Pradesh based Salim Qureshi gang.

10 to 15 cases of murder, including that of one police personnel and one Army Jawan have been registered against them in Uttar Pradesh.

They were produced before Metropolitan Court this afternoon, which remanded them to police custody till April 26, he added.
