Deep Kapuria new Chairman CII, North

Chandigarh, Apr 12 (UNI) Deep Kapuria and Salil Singhal have been elected as Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively of the Confederation of Indian Industry (Northern Region) for the year 2007-08.

Mr Deep Kapuria is Chairman and Managing Director of Hi-Tech Gears Ltd. The company is one among the leading manufacturers of Auto components in India, supplying to leading OEMs in India as well as abroad.

Mr Kapuria, who is also the Chairman of Globalisation and India Brand Building Sub-committee of Auto Components Manufacturers' Association (ACMA), has played an important role in many CII initiatives such as the WTO talks in Hong Kong and various discussions in Geneva and led several international missions for the CII and ACMA.

Mr Salil Singhal is the Chairman of Secure Meters Ltd, a pioneer in introduction of electronic metering of power in India and internationally recognised for its innovative metering solutions and services. Having made its first foreign acquisition in 1995, the Company has acquired companies in Europe, West Asia and Australia and exports to 60 countries.

Mr Singhal is also the Chairman and Managing Director of P I Industries Ltd, dealing in pesticides, fine chemicals and polymers.

Mr Singhal has also occupied several important positions in his 40 year long career. He was the member of the Rajasthan State Council of CII and a member of Northern Region Council for the past ten years. He was the Chairman of the Sub Committee on Agriculture and Food of CII (Northern Region) and a member of CII's Agriculture Council.

Mr Singhal was the President of the Pesticides Association of India, now called the Crop Care Federation of India, for 15 years and was subsequently elected as Chairman Emeritus for life.

He has also represented various prestigious industrial missions and central delegations in domestic and international fora.
