Consecration of ancient TN temple performed
Kancheepuram, Apr 12 (UNI) Thousands of devotees witnessed the 'kumbhabishekam' (consecration) of Sri Vaikunta Perumal Koil this morning.
One of the 108 'divya desams' considered sacred by the Hindu Vaishnavites, the consecration took place after a gap of seven years.
The temple was built by Pallava King Parameswara Varman in the seventh century.
The priests poured sacred water on the 'kalasas' on the temple gopuram (tower) marking the ceremony.
