CD on Ayodhya demolition circulates in Varanasi
Varanasi, Apr 12: Even as the BJP battles to clear off its hand the communal CD issue presently being scrutinised by the Election Commission, another CD dealing with December 6, 1992 Ayodhya demolition is being circulated by unidentified people in this holy city.
Titled 'Kar Sewa - 6 December Ek Raktaranjit Itihas' the set of seven CDs/DVDs is being circulated by group of volunteers in various parts of the city going to assembly poll on May 3.
The CD contains visuals of pre-and-post 1992 Ayodhya demolition incidents, speeches of BJP stalwarts like Atal Behari Vajpayee, L K Advani, Kalyan Singh, Murli Mahohar Joshi and VHP leader Ashok Singhal.
The CD also narrates the history behind the Ram temple cause, visuals of demolition of the mosque at Ayodhya, loss of lives and wounds to saffron brigade during the temple movement in 1990 when Uttar Pradesh was ruled by present chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
It also contain excerpts of L K Advani's 1990 Rathyatra and arrest of senior BJP leaders trying to go to Ayodhya during the temple movement.
The VCD chiefly comprises visuals of the present makeshift temple at Ayodhya, VHP model of the proposed temple, wounded karsevaks, ancient Ram temple and also the celebrations by saffron workers after the December 6, 1992 Babri demolition.
The speech of the then Chief Minister and BJP's present Chief Ministerial candidate Kalyan Singh taking moral responsibility of the demolition has also been included.
The set of 7 CDs is being silently circulated for the last 10 days in the riverine especially Hindu dominated areas from Rajghat to Assi Ghat and even posh localities like Sigra and Kamacchha, police intelligence sources confirmed here.
Admitting the CD was in circulation, a senior Local Intelligence Unit Official said ''For the last three days we are in search of the CD and those circulating them in the city, but so far we have failed to get any lead.'' Meanwhile, BJP and VHP leaders claim they have nothing to do with the CD being circulated in the city. ''We are only aswerable to any publicity material officially released by the party and nothing else,'' senior BJP leader and former union minister Ananth Kumar told newspersons here today.
A prominent VHP leader of the Kashi Prant, Manoj Srivastava said ''I have heard about a CD being circulated in the city but the VHP has nothing to with the making or circulation of the CD.'' District Magistrate Rajiv Agrawal, however, maintained efforts will be made to swiftly figure out and take action against those involved in the unlawful act.
Additional Police Superintendent Dipak Kumar said ''intelligence team have been formed to find out the truth in the matter.
