BJP demands probe into 'benami CD'
New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI) The BJP today demanded that the Election Commission probe a "benami CD", titled "Khauphnak Katal--BJP ki Maya", in circulation in the Muzaffarnagar region of Uttar Pradesh.
The CD contained photographs of Gujarat riots, dead bodies, police firing, Saddam's execution and other issues and speeches by Samajwadi leaders to incite the people belonging to a particular community.
The party presented this "Benami CD" before the Election Commission and asked for full investigation and appropriate action against those who released it.
The party had already lodged a complaint at Khatoli police station under the provisions 151a, 171, 125 and 127 of the Representation of Peoples Act against the "Benami CD." Talking to newspersons, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said that since the CD criticised BJP, Mayawati and Congress and hailed the SP alone, the BJP believed that the SP could be behind the circulation of the CD which was aimed at dividing people on religions thus affecting the national unity.
The BJP, he said, had reminded the EC that such ''benami cds'' were misused by the Rashtriya Janata Dal during the Bihar Election.
