Ancient idols found
Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, Apr 12 (UNI) The discovery of three ancient idols from a river bed in a sleepy village of this district has caused excitement among the locals.
Sources said the seven-foot idols of Lord Mahavishnu, Goddess Sridevi and Bhoodevi belonging to the tenth century were recovered from the bed of River Veeracholan at Sankarapandal Village near Tarangampadi Taluk near Mayiladuthurai a few days ago.
The sources said some stone tools were also found along with the idols. The ancient treasures were handed over to Revenue Department officials.
