5000 red coloured ration cards will be issued: CM

Puducherry, Apr 12 (UNI) The Puducherry administration is taking steps for the provision of 5000 red colour ration cards next month, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the legislative assembly today.

Replying to a question, Mr Rangasamy said the administration had issued 3,07,804 ration cards so far of which 1,33,192 were red coloured in the Union Territory.

After the general enumeration and provision of cards, 36,870 new applications were received, of which 18350 cards were distributed.

The remaining applications would be scrutinised soon and steps would be taken to issue cards to eligible persons, he added.
