10 yrs' imprisonment for assaulting police officials
Shivpuri, MP, Apr 12 (UNI) A local court has sentenced three people to 10 years imprisonment on the charge of assaulting police officials and fined them Rs 5,000 each, failing which their term would be extended by three years.
According to prosecution, Parmal Singh, Parmeshwar alias Mota and Rameshwar had assaulted Shivpuri Superintendent of Police Sajid Farid Shapu and the then Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Mohinder Kanwar on July 5, 2006.
The accused were creating ruckus at a roadside 'dhaba (restaurant)' in Satanwada town when Mr Shapu and Mr Kanwar, who were passing through the area, tried to stop them.
However, the trio attacked and injured the two police officials, who later overpowered them.
District and Sessions Judge J M Chaturvedi delivered the verdict yesterday.
