Winning MCD polls will prop BJP in UP: Vajpayee

New Delhi, Apr 11: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has said the huge win recorded by BJP in Delhi municipal elections will have a positive impact on the on-going Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.The big win in Municipal Corporation of Delhi had taken the party a notch further. It also indicated that BJP was moving in the right direction in achieving its targets, he said in a meet with the newly elected party councilors here last evening.

Mr Vajpayee asked the new MCD members to fulfil the expectations of the electorate who had voted them to power.

Talking about UP elections, he said there was no dissent among party rank and file over choice of candidates contesting the polls.

All the party candidates in the field had his support, he added.

Delhi Pradesh BJP President Harsh Vardhan, BJP's Parliamentary party deputy leader and In-charge of Delhi affairs V K Malhotra, party secretary Vijay Goel, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi and party MP Shatrughan Sinha were present on the occasion.
