Two rebels killed in Asom

Guwahati, Apr 11 (UNI) A suspected Naga rebel and a former ULFA activist were killed in separate incidents in Asom since last night.

Unidentified gunman shot dead an ex-ULFA member at Tamulpur village in Chirang district under Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District Council (BTADC) area.

In another incident, army troops shot dead a Naga rebel in an encounter near Tikak Parbat colliery under Margherita police station in Tinsukia district last night.

Police said that an army patrol party intercepted two youths near Tikak Parbat but they started firing. The armymen retaliated killing one of them.

A pistol was recovered from the slain youth, identity was yet to be ascertained.
