TN Govt prepares draft petition against CWDT award

Chennai, Apr 11 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government has prepared a draft review petition against the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT) and convened an all-party meeting on April 15 to discuss the review petition to finalise it for placing the file before the Tribunal.

An official release here said the government has prepared the draft petition after consulting legal and technical experts to seek guidelines and explanations under Sec 5(2) of the Inter-State River Water Disputes Act.

The decision to file the review petition before the Tribunal was taken in accordance with the resolution adopted at the all party meeting convened by the state government on February 19.

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had sent invitations to the leaders of all political parties asking them to participate in the meeting and express their views on the draft petition.

The meeting would be held at the state secretariat.
