Textile protection committee stage dharna
Puducherry, Apr 11 (UNI) The textile protection committee comprising representatives from all trade unions today staged a dharna infront of the Bharathi Mills here to press their demands.
They were demanding, among other things, action against corrupt officials and that the government should drop the reduction in shift in the Mill.
Meanwhile, the group "D" employees of the animal husbandry department today held a dharna infront of the Assembly, demanding reconstitution of their work structure as per the Fifth Pay Commission's recommendations.
Employees from all the four regions of the Union Territory participated in the agitation.
Members of the Puducherry Fishermen Association today took out a massive procession here, demanding implementation of their fifteen point charter of demands, including the provision of 200 kg rice and Rs 2000 during the period of ban on fishing, pension of Rs 1500 and inclusion of fishermen in SC list.
