Term of Commission extended

Patna, Apr 11 (UNI) The Bihar government today decided to extend the term of Administrative Reforms Commission(ARC) by another one year, which was constituted in January 2006 to suggest measures to the government for streamlining the functioning of the state administration.

''A decision to this effect was taken by the state cabinet today,'' said cabinet coordination department secretary Girish Shankar.

He said the term of the ARC, which was headed by retired chief secreatry of Jharkhand V S Dubey, was to expire tomorrow. The commission had already submitted its interim report to the government, he added.

In another decision, permission was granted to open Mandal-Bharti agriculture college at Saharsa, which would be affiliated to Rajendra Agriculture University, Pusa.

Earlier, a meeting of the council of ministers was held to discuss the methodology to be adopted for rectification of irregularities in BPL list. Execution of various welfare schemes was also discussed in the meeting.
