Sonia Gandhi to address rally at Porbandar on April 13

Rajkot, Apr 11 (UNI) Congress president Sonia Gandhi is slated to address a public rally at Porbandar on April 13 to mark the culmination of the Mahatma Gandhi Sandesh Yatra.

Incidentally, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a women's rally at Jasdan in Rajkot district on same day.

Both the rallies assume significance in view of the Gujarat Assembly elections due in December this year.

Ms Gandhi is scheduled to arrive at Porbandar on the morning of April 13 by a special aircraft.

State Congress leaders, including CLP leader Arjun Modhvadia, GPCC president Bharat Solanki, former Deputy Chief Minister Narhari Amin, Shaktisinh Gohil and national leaders such as Shankarsinh Vaghela and B K Hariprasad, incharge of Gujarat affairs have been camping in Saurashtra to mobilise party workers.

The 13-day long cycle rally, ''Mahatma Gandhi Sandesh Yatra'', to commemorate the centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi's Satyagraha movement had commenced from Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad on April 1 and will conclude on April 13 in Porbandar, the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi.
