SEZs a 'fact of life' that are here to stay: PM

New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said Special Economic Zones are now a ''fact of life'' that were here to stay.

The Empowered Group of Ministers (eGoM) had gone into the whole issue and prepared guidelines in the connection, he told mediapersons on the sidelines of the Defence Investiture Ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

However, if the Left parties had any further suggestions in the matter they could always be looked into, he added.

The Prime Minister refused any comment on the BJP CD issue in Uttar Pradesh, saying the Election Commission was looking into the matter.

Talking about the progress of talks on 'demilitarisation' of the Siachen Glacier, he said it was a complex issue and talks were continuing on the issue between India and Pakistan.
