Mumbai, Apr 11 (UNI) Maharashtra School Education Minister Vasant Purke today said that Maharashtra government will finalise the syllabus on sex education in schools after consulting experts.

He was replying to a point of propriety raised by Vinod Tavade (BJP) and others who said the legislators were not against sex education in schools per se but the syllabus should be finalised after consulting experts. Besides, the subject should be renamed as ''Adolescence Health Education''.

Mr Tawade said the media was projecting as if the legislators were against sex education in schools. However, this is not so, he added and he was supported by Dr Neelam Gorhe (Sena), Jeetendra Avhad and others.

Mr Purke said before finalising the syllabus, the Government will consider the views of the experts and educationists. He said discussions with experts will be held at Nagpur, Pune and Aurangabad before finalising the syllabus.
