Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 11 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the Assembly session would be convened only after discussing it with the Opposition, even as the Opposition strongly protested against the change of schedule.

The government had earlier proposed to convene the Assembly from April 16.

Talking to reporters here after a cabinet meeting, Mr Achuthanandan said the date for convening the Assembly was not finalised and it would be done only after consulting the Opposition.

On Opposition United Democratic Front's (UDF) call to observe the first anniversary day of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government on May 18 as ''betrayal day'', Mr Achuthanandan said the UDF was planning such things because of their frustration after seeing the developmental works of his government.

''The Left government has done what the A K Antony and Oommen Chandy governments could not do in five years. We have brought in the Farmers Debt Relief Fund Act and the Devaswom Act. Even in the education sector, we brought in many reforms. After seeing all these development works, the UDF is disappointed,'' he said.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy along with other Congress leaders today met Assembly Speaker K Radhakrishnan to register their protest against postponing the Assembly session without consulting them.
