Sealing picks up steam, 93 units sealed

New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) After resuming on a dull note yesterday, after a ten-day break, the ongoing drive for sealing of units operating in contravention of the 2021 Delhi Master Plan today picked up steam with the MCD putting 93 units to seal in seven zones of Delhi.

The maximum number of 23 units were sealed in the Shahdara (South) zone followed by Najafgarh with 19 units, Sotuh zone with 15, Rohini with 13, Civil Lines and Shahdara (N) with 11 units each and one unit in central zone, an MCD spokesperson said.

While in Civil lines, sealing was held on Ashoka road, in Najafgarh units on main road on Sultanpuri were put to seal.

Sealing was also held on Lala Lajpat Rai Marg in South zone, the spokesperson said.

With todays sealing the total number of units sealed since the drive began on March 28 readed 242.

The escalation in the sealing drive comes following the Supreme Court today saying the sealing of commercial premises in residential areas in the capital not protected by the Master Plan Delhi(MPD) 2021 would continue.
