Sanskrit students take to streets against Cong
Varanasi, Apr 11 (UNI) Sampoornand Sanskrit University (SSU) students today staged a 'dharna' to protest the denial of ticket by Congress to University Executive Council member Vijay Shankar Pandey.
Raising anti-Congress slogans, the students blocked the road at the Teliabag crossing outside the varsity.
They alleged by denying ticket to Mr Pandey from Chiraigaon assembly seat here, the party has overlooked the interest of a seasoned Congressman.
The jam was cleared after police intervened in the matter.
Chiraigaon seat is represented by Uttar Pradesh minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Virendra Singh.
Congress has decided to field Hemant Kushwaha from Chiraigaon, where polling is slated for May 3.
