Moscow, Apr 11 (UNI) Russian Foreign Ministry today slammed the US State Department reports on human rights in Russia as ''politicised''.

"The report is clearly politicized and does not properly reflect the actual state of affairs," the Ministry said in a statement.

"The state of human rights in countries following the lead of the United States in foreign policy is described positively, and those that are 'out of touch' are criticized," the statement noted.

"Prejudiced notions about the successes of individual countries in guaranteeing the supremacy of law, due governance, the freedom of opinion, speech, and assembly and the lawfulness of elections are used as tools in the analysis," it pointed out.

"Even these disputable criteria are applied "for export" as the report overlooks numerous problems with human rights within the United States," it said.

"The section of the document dealing with Russia applies a whole arsenal of simple logical methods - exaggeration, selection of facts to support conclusions formulated in advance, the substitution of notions, arbitrary interpretation of facts and some others to convince the US and international public that Russia urgently needs democratization," it stressed.

"Earlier the State Department fanned passions in the same vein ahead of the so called colour revolutions," the statement warned.
