Rs 70 crore released for paying compensation to farmers

Chandigarh, Apr 11 (UNI) The Punjab Government has released an amount of Rs 71.39 crore as compensation to the farmers, whose crops were damaged in the recent untimely rains and hail storm.

Disclosing this here today, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said this amount had been released to the Deputy Commissioners of the affected districts who have been asked to disburse this amount amongst the affected farmers immediately.

Giving district wise details about the financial aid being given, Mr Badal said Patiala district has been given Rs 15.91 crore, Bathinda Rs 3.15 crore, Fatehgarh Sahib Rs 4.25 crore, Faridkot Rs 57.11 lakh, Ferozepur Rs 5.68 crore, Gurdaspur Rs 1.76 crore, Hoshiarpur Rs 3.49 crore, Kapurthala Rs 5.29 crore, Ludhiana Rs 5.94 crore, Mohali Rs 25.92 lakh, Muktsar Rs 21.29 crore, Moga Rs 47.71 lakh, Ropar Rs 74.08 lakh, Sangrur Rs 1.89 crore and Amritsar Rs 20,000.

He further said a compensation of Rs 62.11 lakh had also been released for residents of some districts whose house were damaged in the recent rains.

Financial aid of one lakh rupees each has been released for the loss of human lives in Amritsar and Ferozepur districts and for loss of livestock Rs 98,400 had been released.
