Kohima Apr 11(UNI) Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has wooed the industry to invest in the North East, including Nagaland, as the region has potential for economic boom.

Addressing the 3rd North East Busines summit in New Delhi yesterday, Mr Rio assured that the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government was prepared to provide all necesary incentives under its own industrial policy.

He further assured that the state government would push forward industrial investment.

On extension of the North East Industrial policy for another ten years, the chief minister urged the industrialists to invest in the state.

Mr Rio said North East should be seen both as a business opportunity and the new investment destination.

He said Nagaland has recently signed an agreement with the Infrastructure Financing and Leasing Services (IL&FS) for the development of industrial infrastructure in the state by floating Infrastructure Development Corporation of Nagaland(IDCON), a joint venture company.

Criticising the lack of investment in his state, the chief minister said if law and order and insurgency were the reasons, then one should look at a country like Israel, which is presently working in the field of agriculture in Nagaland.
