Ahmedabad, Apr 11 (UNI) The Jan Sangharsh Manch (JSM) today urged the Nanavati-Shah Commission to direct the Forensic Science Laboratory to submit documents in support of its claim on the presence of petrol in the samples collected from the burnt S6 coach of the Sabarmati Express, a day after the 2002 Godhra carnage.

The JSM, a rights body representing the post-Godhra riots victims, in an application, said that the FSL report compiled by Assistant Director Talati contained several discrepancies and demanded that Mr Talati be directed to produce documents to support his claim that the samples collected on February 28, 2002 from outside and inside the S6 coach, contained residual petrol hydrocarbons.

Manch advocate Mukul Sinha said the chromatographs submitted by Mr Talati to the Commission during his cross examination did not match with the chromatograph of petrol, which has been taken as the control element.

''Peaks of the chromatographs for each of the compounds are extremely sharp and are expressed in terms of minutes of time on the horizontal axis and are accurate upto the second decimal point.

Thus, the peaks when compared with a peak of any controlled sample, should match. However, in Mr Talati's graphs the peaks do not match at all with the chromatograph of the (control) petrol,'' he noted.

He claimed that because of this mismatch, the FSL theory presence of petrol in samples stands negated as it is not supported by any scientific proof.
