Chennai, Apr 11: As a Tamil New Year gift to its customers in Tamil Nadu, Reliance Communications today announced its tie-up with SUN Network to beam all programmes of leading Tamil satellite channel 'Sun TV' on Reliance mobile handsets.

Hosted on the Reliance Mobile World (R World), the multimedia suite of applications of Reliance Mobile, the 'mobile TV' menu would offer a unique experience in viewing Sun TV's popular soaps, latest flicks, news, debates and other programmes, Reliance Communications Hub Head (Tamil Nadu and Kerala) V G Somasekhar told reporters here.

As the streaming was online 24x7, the Reliance Mobile customers could watch their favorite programmes conveniently from anywhere even while on the move within the state or travelling across the country, he said.

Stating that the company's mega network roll-out in the state would expand its coverage to all 832 census towns, 130 SDCAs, 201 taluks by September 2007, Mr Somasekhar said people all over Tamil Nadu could enjoy the experience of mobile TV from the alliance with Sun TV.

Reliance Communications President (Applications, Solutions and Content Group) Mahesh Prasad said mobile TV was the latest breakthrough in mobile entertainment that combined the best of TV with the mobility and functionality of a wireless device.

''With this major intiative, our mobile phone has become an entertainment station in itself. This is in line with Reliance's pursuit of making mobile TV a reality in India,'' he remarked.
