Record arrival of wheat in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Apr 11 (UNI) A record 1.34 lakh MTs of wheat arrived in the mandis of Haryana till yesterday, while the total arrival this season touched 2.84 lakh MTs so far.

Over 1.50 lakh MTs of wheat reached the 358 mandis in the state from April 1 to 9.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here today that out of the total wheat arrival, 2.64 lakh MTs had been procured by the six government procuring agencies at the minimum support price of Rs 850 per quintal including a bonus of Rs 100 per quintal.

He said that out of the total arrival, the traders had purchased 19,574 MTs of wheat.

Food and Supplies Department had procured 87,232 MTs of wheat, HAFED had procured 84,202 MTs, Food Corporation of India 30,572 MTs, Confed 25,843 MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 23,995 MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 12,523 MTs of wheat, Mr Mohan said.

Karnal was leading with the arrival of 76,128 MTs, followed by Kaithal 68,120 MTs, Kurukshetra 36,499 MTs, Jind 24,222 MTs, Fatehabad 21,388 MTs, Sirsa 16,392 MTs, Panipat 16,005 MTs and Ambala 7676 MTs, the Deputy Chief Minister said.

He said that a sum of Rs 2195 crore had been sanctioned by the Reserve Bank of India during the current Rabi marketing season for the purchase of wheat and efforts would be made to procure 45-46 lakh MTs of wheat during the current Rabi marketing season. He said that the payment of the wheat procurement of the farmers was being made in two to three days.

He urged the farmers to bring their produce parched and clean so that they could get good remuneration.
